It doesn't make much difference at all for the players in terms of what they'll earn. Not like there's a more significant drop once they leave the lottery.
The pay scale incentivizes every player to stay in school until they're ready to maximize their draft potential. But most players aren't in a position where they can afford to make that risk. Even someone from a typical middle class home can't easily justify it. But with their dad making a healthy six figures on our staff and with TWO sons likely to be in the NBA (plus other potential ones down the line), they're in a position to take that risk.
