because I know what you are saying. I had a good friend's wife say to me "please don't comment on my appearance ever again" when I arrived at their house for dinner and said "Green really suited her complication".
I am not in favor of making everyone look and act the same and I don't want free speech attacked.
My best heartfelt response is that I see, interact, and spend time with a lot of black people. I had a black friend over at my house yesterday sitting on this exact couch. I don't ever feel like I am being bombarded with these messages from the black people I know.
I can only assume then that the major difference between those people on award shows and my friends of color are as varied as myself to George Clooney. I can tell you that if I won some fictional award and ten of millions of people were my audience I'd probably never mention my skin color, but I'm not black and I don't know what it's like to be black but since a large number of them do mention it, I am guessing it's important to them.
I know that got convoluted but i am sick, forgive me
