Maybe most white people aren't racist, but the fact that black people often see racism in the slightest of circumstances (i.e. every circumstance) causes many benign whites to think way too much about what they say and do, which gets interpreted as racism?

That's a serious response. My sister is so far left about global warming and the environment that you literally can't say, "Nice weather today, eh?" without a diatribe from her about climate change.

So I just don't talk to her. Over time it's become the most bankable way to avoid confrontation. And disclaimer, I agree with much of what she says. I'm just not a zealot.
