implication of the 2nd statement is I, or we, are, in fact, actually supposed to treat black people differently in order to make things, um, equal?

Statement 1: don't treat me differently based on my skin color

Statement 2: recognize that i'm treated differently

My response:

1: awesome, didn't plan to
2: By me or by other people? because you're talking to "all white people", and i'm included in that group - so do you want me to just keep doing what i'm doing, which is treating you like everyone else or are you expecting some kind of action on my part?

the issue is the target audience of the second statement.
