is the overly simplistic answer. Results = signing the good players. They have to be convincing that their school is the best option for a player and have closing skills. Lots of different characteristics can fit into that. Connections, follow up, charisma, personality, reputation, past success, ability to quickly build rapport with a recruit and family, being smart enough to adapt their personality to each recruit's personality, being smart enough to understand the process, etc. It is just like salesmen do every day in the business world.
