This scenario that the cold feet the Porters had about Washington led to Romar's firing doesn't make sense.
The Porters had to know that if they wavered, their friend would lose his job. They don't seem like the type of people that would do that to a longtime family friend.
The corresponding scenario that the Porters wanted to come back to Missouri so badly that they were willing to sacrifice Romar requires someone to believe one of two things: 1) They were willing to work for/play for whomever Mizzou hired or 2) They knew Cuonzo was about to get the Mizzou job and he was someone they were happy to work with/play for.
To believe No. 2 is to accuse Cuonzo and the Porters of some shady dealing. They would have had to discuss all going to Mizzou while Cuonzo was still officially the coach at Cal and Michael was still under a letter of intent to Washington. Possible? Sure, but it doesn't seem in the character of either party.
