Sea water is warmed directly by the sun. Over land, energy from the sun is mostly reflected back into the air. That's when it interacts with CO2 in the air. And it's a narrow frequency range that is converted to heat--the infrared (IR) range.
Sea water reflects very little solar energy back into the air. It absorbs it instead. That's why sea air is cooler than land air. So, if sea water is getting warmer, it means that there is more heat being generated by the sun or that there is less cloud cover. Now, what do you think are the implications of that relative to any global warming?
