How about in these year to year contracts, once the contract term is over for any period, query whether the student athlete should be able to transfer without penalty?

Do you/anyone know if the Scholarship Agreement includes a provision that the student athlete should sit out a year if the contract is not renewed? If so it strikes me as similar to a one year non compete agreement. But the point remains if the university is not liable for failure to renew after any year, why shouldn't the athlete likewise be free to move on without penalty?
