exist?
Here locally, there will be the FIFTH ANNUAL Summit Dialogue on Race.
The program features inspiring reports on progress being made to end racial injustice.
So according to someone, it exists, even if undefined.
What if you think that there is no racial injustice? You see, as i've posted before all "Open and honest discussion on race," begins with the truism that racism is a big problem. Racial injustice is real and must be dealt with.
Is it?
Is it an income thing, a crime and punishment thing, an education thing?
If more blacks are in jail on a percentage basis than whites, is it racial injustice, or criminal justice?
If whites earn more than blacks, is it racial injustice or capitalism?
If there are no white cornerbacks in the NFL, is it racial injustice or meritocracy?
And how do we fix it, assuming it exists? The answer heretofore has always been to level the playing field by lowering the standards for minorities. Does that work? Isn't it divisive?
If it exists, is it carried out at the level of the individual, on the streets and in public, or is it epidemic, systemic, endemic, institutional and pervasive even though there are no laws permitting it and many laws outlawing it and even giving special legal protections and advantages to minorities?
I submit that you cannot outlaw racism any more than you can outlaw hate. It is the dark side of human nature. You cannot outlaw sexism, either. You can punish discrimination. You can require that no one is denied equal access or equal protection because of race.
And you can...but should you, grant special accommodations to minorities only because of their minority status?
I submit that racial injustice does not exist to any great extent in this country. The effort to eradicate something that for all intents and purposes does not exist on an institutional level is nothing more than a "feel good, don't do good" exercise by liberals.
They want to "fix" human nature.
