"I said MU was the best coached team in the nation that season."

This best coached team lost the regular season conference to KU, a team that had a rotation of 7 players that played meaningful minutes, 1 a transfer, 1 a former walk-on, and was a team that went on to play in the National Championship game. Seems to me that KU was in actuality the "best coached team", based on your logic.

Don't get me wrong, MU was a pretty good team in 2012, but it just so happens KU was better.
