scholarship restrictions. He had a player kicked off for hitting someone with a shotgun, had a player shot, and had players get into a brawl where his best player had his jaw broken and he had to suspend multiple players. He inherited multiple players who were supposed to be 4-star best players on the team, some of which got into legal trouble and got kicked off the team. He inherited a team that lost 65% of their scoring. He inherited an absolute mess and still won 30 games the 3rd year. Kim might not get to 30 wins total over his first 3 years.
Larranaga inherited a team that had the whole Nevin Shapiro investigation going on. Yes he inherited talent but over 50% of his 29 win 2nd year team were new players he recruited. And he did what good coaches do. He retained the talented players he inherited which Kim didn't do.
And you conveniently ignore the other 3 coaches who either inherited bad situations or completely rebuilt their rosters at the same time as Kim and have done WAY better. But they prove that you can rebuild quickly even with bad situations, so I get why you ignored them because it blows up your whole "Kim inherited a terrible situation" argument.
