Averaged 6 points a game the year before.

KA obviously hasn't done well at this point. But he also didn't inherit a roster that was an NCAA team.
A coach with more recent NCAA contacts probably could have landed several transfers that year to get Mizzou through a year, then be back to NCAA type of team by now.
