So our chocolate lab got hit by a car on 63 HWY

last night. Brutal deal. We live close to the highway in Boone County. The vet had to put her down last night after the ex-rays showed she was paralyzed. Horrible deal for our kids especially.

Then we get a call from the vet asking if we can release our info to the highway patrol. Apparently the car that hit her (and left the scene) is trying to get damages.

Is this reasonable or not? What would you do?
