By your rationale, NC State should have given Keatts a lifetime contract following his Final Four run last year.

Had they done that (like we probably would have), they'd be stuck with him forever.

Gates' buyout terms ("100% guaranteed") need to be renegotiated before we *ever* agree to another raise or extension, no matter how good the season is.

Now, if he does it consistently (e.g. over 10+ years) then maybe we could consider a stronger commitment in terms of the buyout.
