I can't help but laugh.
88% of the SEC – 14 of 16 teams – made the tourney.
It's analogous to "Drink made a bowl game".
It's never been easier for Mizzou to reach the NCAAT with NIL, the portal, and a 68-team field.
The question is whether a team got better or worse over the course of a season, and if the roster was maximized to its fullest potential.
Gates failed miserably in both of those regards, once again.
He went 22-12 (worse than Haith's *worst* season) despite an easy non-conference schedule, lost 6 of 8 down the stretch, and ended the season with *another* early knockout by a lowly seeded mid-major.
Over 3 years, Gates' conference win-% is .381 ... To put that into perspective, Haith's conference win-% was .640 during his 3-year tenure.
Gates coaching ineptitude is amplified in the NCAA Tournament, when coaches have more time & incentive to watch film and game-plan – which are things that Gates just doesn't do. He rolls the ball out at practice, and that's about it.
