Yes it was a gross exaggeration to make a point. I would guess 99.9% of the players and fans from the playoff teams were not upset that they didn't get to play/travel to a "bowl" game. Which is pretty evident that even those bowl games of non-playoff participants are not highly attended.

Personally, I think it's silly and pretty dumb to worry about a "bowl" anything if you are a playoff team. But hey, that is just my opinion.
