I do feel bad for those who lost everything

But there is a reality to this. It was not an unforeseen event. And every single person who supported:
- hiring people based on their skin color or what they choose to do with their genitalia rather than the best possible candidates
- forcing insurance companies to cover risks and perils while also prohibiting them from collecting enough premium to pay for losses
- not collecting record snow melt because it may possibly harm some tiny fish in the ocean
are now living with the real world consequence of those decisions. They are very difficult and sad consequences. I do feel bad for what they are going through. But they set their priorities, made their decisions, and now will deal with the priorities they set.
