Son it is not on him at all. You have no concept of politics especially in the Middle East. You really do not seem to have a concept of how the CIA operates. They run the embassies for the most part. You forget that the Shaw was already in power as an advisor. There was a conflict within the Iranian leadership at that time of how much of a relationship that they wanted with the USA or the atheistic soviets. keep in mind that mnost of those Students were supported by the communists. Carter was convinced by the previous regime and Bryzinski to let him into the country which set it all up. Bryzenski wanted a strong military action Vance didn't so you know what happened. the Iranians more than likely knew the rescue plans. It was the National Security office and the CIA that approved the reduction of security guards and replaced it with bullet proof glass Carter did advocate it hoping that it would lesson tensions. I dated a girl who's father worked for the Shaw and they lived in Houston. This really went back to 1953. it would have happened if that embassy would have been surrounded by 2000 marines.
