Carter mismanaged the Iran crisis from stem to stern - always doing too little, too late. ALWAYS.
The Israel/Egypt accord was doomed to fail - Egypt didn't want it.
Carter laid no such groundwork to bring down the Soviet Union - all he did was get an arms limitation treaty signed which the Soviets ignored, because they didn't respect him, either. The Soviet Union collapsed because influential Republicans (you can guess who, not Reagan) realized weakness in the Soviet financial setup (overextended building their navy and being in Afghanistan, over-reliant on oil prices) and had the Arabs pump the ever-loving $hit out of oil, bringing the Soviets to their knees. No Jimmah Carter involvement whatsoever.
