Prosecutor acceptance is not required.
In Alford v NC, SCOTUS held that courts may accept whatever plea a defendant chooses to enter, as long as the defendant is competently represented by counsel; the plea is intelligently chosen; and “the record before the judge contains strong evidence of actual guilt.”
All elements are contained so a rejection of the Alford Plea would be likely tossed on appeal (as was the case of Henry Alford)
