Hunter Biden proposed an unusual plea to resolve his tax charges in a Los Angeles federal courtroom, just before jury selection was set to begin in the latest criminal trial of President Biden’s son.

Biden’s defense team said it planned to pursue an Alford plea, in which he would maintain his innocence but concede that the evidence was sufficient to convict, according to a person familiar with the proceedings.
