i think the disagreement is not so much with the belief that those rights SHOULD exist but more in the fact that they have never been delineated to any degree, or discussed, debated, argued and either dismissed or accepted.
I agree that the foundation of our bill of rights and the constitution itself are derived in some measure from these perceived natural rights.
I think you touched on it earlier in your comment about morality. The NR are imo, similar to the ten commandments. They are morals, they are a way we should live and want to live. But with out them being codified, they cannot imo, be valid to judge, reward or punish behaviour.
Without the discussion, debate, vote and settlement on precise meanings of each, sovereign citizens can argue that drugs are my choice for my body. That i can drink and drive, if someone calls me a name i can kill him.
Too vague, too much left to interpretation and unequally applied in all likelihood.
Natural law may well be the foundation of our laws and our society. But i maintain that our RIGHTS come from government.
