notoriously inefficient & can have crazy rules regarding employment & so on.
They could get more aggressive in thinking outside the box regarding revenue streams.
If they have deep enough pockets they could even potentially challenge the networks, maybe hire their own crews to do the games & start new channels, or stream the games à la carte, or let people choose to follow just certain teams or conferences without having to buy all of the cable channels they aren't interested in. Just the potential threat might help them negotiate bigger packages from the existing networks.
Maybe they could switch the women's sports to ones that would bring in more revenue.
Beach volleyball? Roller derby? Women's mud wrestling?
Zip lines into &/or out of the stadium.
More professional management of concessions
Deep pocketed aggressive ones could set up theme park type additional events, rides and things & bring in big time entertainers, drag racing, horse racing, gambling... whatever would make financial sense & the universities or conferences might be willing to sign off on.
