compared to the number of private schools that exist, that the percentage would significantly higher than the same measurement for public schools. Also, only looking at the state champion is a little shallow, IMO. Just because there happens to be one public school that is the best team, doesn't mean overall the private schools are not better.
A lot of my views on this is shaped by what the landscape is like here. It's not even close in football and basketball when it comes the overall product. Yes, there can be a public school that happens to be the best team in the state, but the depth of the private leagues is on a different level than the public leagues.
