but if the "competitors" set the rules without an agreement over the talent, it is anti-trust and collusion.
That is the problem with the whole thing. The pro teams have collective bargaining agreements where both sides set the rules, and then administrators that oversee them.
The NCAA is completely one-sided.
The professionals also do not limit how athletes can earn money outside of the sport (NIL), although they can use various behavior rules within a contract that does give some boundaries (like betting).
