Where is the house located? In a good or bad neighborhood?

I'm guessing when that house was built, it was probably in a pretty decent neighborhood. Today you can't buy a house for $130k in Kansas City that's not in a terrible neighborhood. You might get lucky and find one in a marginal neighborhood but it's going to be in terrible shape and require a ton of work.
And that's just one aspect of it. You can't make it through college without debt unless your parents help you out or go to a bad school and sacrifice some of your education.
You can still kind of achieve some level of what boomers did but it comes with a lot of tradeoffs that boomers didn't really have to accept. You can get a cheap house but it'll be a house in a bad neighborhood with bad schools where boomers could do it in a decent part of town. Boomers could go to Mizzou while working part time to pay for their tuition and costs. That's not possible now but you might be able to do it if you go to a juco or some other marginal school.
And all of these tradeoffs are getting worse and worse as time goes on.
