hurt skill development in the game. AAU is about playing games and making money they don't have any interest in silly things like gym time for their players.

We always tried to get our players to come to summer workouts to improve individual skills. But if a kid is playing AAU in the summer the last thing he wants to do is get up early and come to the gym to play more basketball. Playing games with a club team is a lot more fun than working on skills with your HS coach all summer.
