One thing that seems to have went away was comparing COVID

to the flu. Remember the good ole days back in February when COVID was just basically the flu and not a big deal?
"The flu kills 60,000 people in 2018 and we didn't go crazy about that."
Here we are 9 months later and we've quadrupled the deaths from flu compared to our worst flu season in recent history.
If 2,000 people keep dying every day from this, we'll be at about 50% of the US Spanish Flu death count by the first of the year. I wonder how much worse COVID would be if we had the medical technology of 1918?
