but there's even grey area there.
if someone is hospitalized for anything, but tests positive for covid while they're there, they count as a covid hospitalization. suspected / unconfirmed cases are counted in those numbers too.
still, that's the most relevant metric. officials should be working with hospitals to manage to that instead of freaking out over something as meaningless as positive rates.
also i hate to be the one to tell you this, but if your mom tested positive 7 weeks ago she's been dead for 5 weeks. sorry.
