Organizations as unions then possible. At different times I have been in the NCTM and AAPT (math and physics) but those are purely professional organizations that do no union activities.

The two big teachers unions are the NEA and AFT. I also know that a large number of teachers that are in unions are only there for the insurance and legal protections.
