how to stop the virus. That is where his knowledge ends. Why is he being asked about economic impacts?

Are reporters asking the Treasury Secretary about virology?

This is not a single variable problem so it cannot be solved with single variable tool sets. We could lock down the country for the next 36 months to overcome this virus. There is no guarantee that would work and there would be no country to come back to.

We could go back to our March 1st way of life and many more thousands would needlessly die.

Or we can find a middle ground that allows the economy to recover while protecting the most at risk. This is not an all or nothing approach so it will require some trial and error while dialing it in.
