mid March, and we've had a lockdown for a few weeks now.
Sans the lockdown and over the course of a year, there would undoubtedly be people under 40 dying. Italy's first death was a 33 year old marathoner, as I recall.
The odds of dying clearly start going up exponentially with age, but the risks are there even for the young. We should also keep in mind that deaths are almost the tip of the iceberg. The numbers that go to ICU are significantly higher than the number of deaths, and the number that are admitted to the hospital are significantly higher than those that end up in ICU.
Quite a few people also reporting significant health issues even after recovering. Some had significant lung damage &/or other organ damage. We don't know yet how much they may recover from that over time. Some may never recover fully.
