The 2010 contact was well publicized.
The thrust of the Deaton interview/statement that was on the Tiger AD's website was (1) Deaton and Alden concluded that the Big XII could fold and leave Mizzou in a situation where it would receive less TV money, (2) Deaton and Aldon concluded that would be unacceptable, (3) Deaton instructed Alden to find out what the alternatives were, and (4) Alden contacted the B!G, the SEC and who knows who else. The B!G told Aldon Mizzou would have to take a half conference distribution for five years and the SEC told him Mizzou would immediately start receiving a full conference distribution. That made the decision to go to the SEC a no brainer for Deaton and Aldon.
