many of you with its dysfunction and ugliness.
The Big 8 conference was perfect for many of you. Other than ku fans, nubbers and the OUch blitzkrieger life was simple and good. You had your rivalries you grew up with and a football culture you understood. Unfortunately the Big XII conference with its Texas schools led by Texas ruined that. Texas eventually will ruin what is left of the Big XII as well. Nebraska, Colorado, Texas A&M and Missouri left because of the dysfunction. You know it was bad when Texas A&M left. They flat out divorced Texas.
Changing what you know and love isn't easily embraced. I should have understood this more. Life in the SEC and its competitive culture isn't readily understood for those outside the conference. In the SEC we are brothers in arms, except for the three plus hours on the gridiron. In the SEC we invite that competition. After it's over, we go back to being relatively nice to each other. Respectful of each others programs and cheer for each other in the post season. (Except for Alabama of course). While many of you do understand this, there are many of you who do not or perhaps wish not to. This isn't to knock anyone. Many of you as fans act like you have been traumatized and abused which is a shame. Which is why I say being in the Big XII conference ruined many things for you.
Missouri has great fans and a football program that is on the upswing regardless of what the naysayers say. Stand proud Mizzou. ---oz
