Terms such as "generally accepted" imply subjectivity by their very nature.
Yes, as to the starting axiom. Some may not accept the axiom that each person has a superior right to his life. These are usually not good people. But if you accept that axiom, then the rest follows.
Again, the natural law is not controversial unless you want to control the lives of other people.
