1) His QB is Conor Bazelak, who looks like the real deal. Both a steady-headed winner and a physical talent.
A program like Mizzou is hard to get red-carpet recruits at QB to sit for more than one year.
Lock held down the position and Barry found Bazelak to replace.
He landed a massively prized QB transfer for a shot-at-the-moon bridge season.
In the process he managed to have Robinson fall in his lap as well.
HE RECRUITED: Kelly Bryant, Conor Bazelak, and Shawn Robinson - it's impossible to say he couldn't recruit a QB.
2) He was committed to turning the defense into something that could win championships, not just be smoke-n-mirrors.
He essentially accomplished this at the time of his firing.
These were not changes for changes sake, as you say. They were implemented for real dominance on defense that works against the best competition, not just teams that can be exposed by a pass rush.
He wasn't allowed to be the DC, as he wished. His defense was depleted from having next to no recruiting impact from 2014 and 15 classes.
You're showing your limitations as a thinker if you don't understand why Coach Kul left - clearly he and Barry were competitors for the DC job and Kul didn't want to be his inferior and has failed since leaving Mizzou.
Those are your two reasons for his failures and they're both dismissed with ease.
Both reasons show a lack of understanding and a person who's poorly equipped to process information.
