It's become clear 2014 was a nearly completely lost class - the recruiting cycle following an SEC East Championship season.
Now a look at 2015, a class that had some big contributors, but missed out on most of its top signees and lacked overall depth, especially in consideration of the lost 2014 cycle.
Chase Abbington: 4 star, reoccurring qualifying issues
AJ Harris: 4 star, medically retired
Marquise Doherty: 4 star, baseball guy, transferred
Terry Beckner: 5 star, reoccurring knee injuries, nearly tragic career
These were 4 of the top 5 recruits in the class - all non-contributors or nearly tragically underachieving career due to injuries.
2014 nearly totally lost, 4/5 top signees in the following year give you almost nothing - that's a recipe for problems, not success.
Other transfers/retired players from 2015:
Ryan Williams: 3 star, medically retired
Tanner Owen: 3 star, medically retired
Nate Howard: high 3 star, transferred
TJ Warren: 3 star, arrested, transferred
Josh Moore: 3 star, transferred
Additionally:
ZERO TEXAS PLAYERS!
Not one player from the the pipeline that backboned and front-boned the rosters of winning Mizzou football teams.
A terrible and weak minded strategic decision by Gary Pinkel to pull recruiting intentions out of Texas when Mizzou entered the SEC.
It's clear now that 2014 and 2015 were definitely not sufficiently stocked for program success in the SEC.
Clearly, character and culture fit were not qualities of top interest by the staff - which aligns with the staffs own character flaws including a DUI, and cheating on family.
The fact these classes were on the backside of multiple trips to the SEC Championship makes it all the more disturbing and unacceptable.
No man with a genuine intention to be truthful can say these classes were anything close to sufficient for success in this league in the years that follow.
Note to reader: keep in mind this is all just one piece to the puzzle of 'understanding' the story of Mizzou Football
