reasons:
1. He needlessly changed the defense and removed all the defensive coaches except for Ryan Walters (who came with him from Memphis).
Our defense went from top ten in 2015 to 100th in 2016. It cost us the season as we went 4-8, despite the NFL QB he was gifted.
Had he not changed the defense, we would have gone 6-6 or 7-5 that first season. Even with as disappointing as 2019 was, he'd be 3-4 games over .500 today overall, and not fired, if he just hadn't F'd everything in 2016 up with needless changes just for change's sake.
2. He didn't recruit or develop a QB. Maybe being a defensive guy, he just didn't have any clue how important it was to have a QB.
He lived off of Gary Pinkel's NFL QB and then he didn't recruit or develop a single one himself. He got desperate for 2019 and gambled his Mizzou career on a transfer that wanted to be showcased as an NFL QB, who wasn't close to one.
That's it really
Never mind, how horribly undisciplined their play was.
Never mind, what a disaster their special teams play was
Never mind, how mediocre their turnover ratio was
Even with all that nonsense... he'd still be our coach if he didn't f*ck up 2016 huge
Or he'd still be our coach, if he cared more about the importance of the QB position. 2019 wouldn't have catered.
He was handed a golden goose and he took it and broke it with a hammer.
