written by influential men. So, while it expresses what the author was thinking, it doesn't mean that there was universal agreement with that position. I agree that it's good evidence of what the thinking was, at the time, but it doesn't mean that those thoughts were carried over to the Constitution as written. In fact, many topics were debated for weeks on end.
