As a new assistant manager of McDonald's 40 years ago I was making over $30K a year and the GM was making more than twice that.
Most of my minimum wage employees were 16 and 17 years old. Those that weren't didn't have a HS diploma, had problems showing up to work on time (if they showed up at all) caught smoking dope in the walk-in, had to be monitored constantly because they couldn't be depended upon to come back from break on time and needed constant supervision and told what to do repeatedly.
Other than that they were great employees.
