Wilmes could stay in RF, she has been very good and gives us an outstanding defense in the outfield along with Nash and Martin. That rocket she launched yesterday to gun down the UK runner trying to go from second to third on the fly ball was one of the best throws by a Mizzou outfielder I’ve ever seen. Just amazing.
We have to play both Rollin and Torres. We are going to have to flat outscore many teams this year, and they are two of our best 4 hitters. I’m hoping Rollin improves at SS. Or maybe moves to 2B where her fielding deficiencies won’t be as critical. Yes, Bailey looks like she is seeing the ball better and got hits in the last 3 games, but she is still hitting just .177 and the one real liability in the hitting lineup. As good as Wilmes has looked in RF, a lineup with Rollin at 2B, Wilmes at SS, George in RF, and Torres at DH is pretty darn good.
