current tariffs end up being more than just part of a tactic in a goal to drop tariffs all around, the criticisms will be fully justified and accurate.
Trump has stated and the official whitehouse statements are that this is tactical.
It's fair to question the veracity of those statements; however, I don't see the logic as to what Trump or his administration gains in any sense by implementing tariffs for the long-term simply as a reflection of what they think is "sound policy".
The future will tell us what the game plan is.
I'm not going to debate the morality of a nation state using force against another nations state which is already using force against it if the effort is to get to a standdown.
Trump asked the EU to reduce tariffs. Offered to have a zero tariff agreement and they rejected it.
Other nations have similarly responded.
I don't agree that tariffs on US goods only hurts the country applying the tariffs.
