of some all-powerful, intimately involved "God" is one humans invented (and continue to invent) to deal with their mortality, inability to control things, et. al.

The silliness of pretending "God" reaches out with miracles but isn't causing all of this suffering is nearly inescable, but folks will persist.

I find accepting that we don't control anything to be the very most natural state in which to exist and to find comfort - to accept reality as it is rather than to continuously strive to pretend that I understand the unknowable - which is what religion tries to do.

"Faith" is a funny word for "I set up a belief system that explains everything".
