find a different method of taking out large numbers of people?
How could I injure of kill a large number of people without using a gun;
Rent a truck and run through a parade.
Release a toxic gas or chemical at a basketball game.
Set off a backpack bomb at any large gathering of people.
Chain or block the doors of a public building and start a fire.
Intentionally create a power outage during a heat wave or cold snap.
Poison a water supply.
All of those could be done relatively easily with a bit of research and technical knowledge. And not one requires the use of a gun. If you want to stop these killings you have to address the underlying issues not the methods.
