Porter Sr. had a 2 year contract at UW for $300k annually plus a bunch of additional compensation. MU had to arrange for the buyout, and also to put together what ultimately became a $1.125 million contract plus incentives. That was all in the works with our boosters before Martin was even named to be our coach.
Now Sterk could have blown the hire and resulted in us getting some other doofus, and that would have meant Porter Sr would have been his assistant and his kids would have gone elsewhere. But the family was moving back to Columbia either way.
