MU wasn't trying, so they left. If MU had made a hire demonstrating a continuing non-desire to compete at a national level, it would have meant that ship had sailed. MU had to not give them a reason to go elsewhere, but up until the Martin hire that is all MU had been doing.

It required a considerable amount of ineptitude for the Porter's to not end up at MU, and we were almost up to the task.
