IMO more important in the decision than hiring Martin was

hiring Porter Sr. That showed MU was serious about competing in men's basketball to make a move like that. That required AD and booster decisions to not treat this like a D2 program anymore.

Once we showed we were serious about competing again by hiring Porter Sr, I think it would have taken an absolutely atrocious hire to dissuade his sons from following.
