because he never actually played and ultimately, he transferred to a lower institution where he did play/continue his education. Missouri was almost just a weigh station on his "academic progress". So, if you remove him, that's 2.

Still leaves me with 3 to account for. Biedscheid is another good argument. Not sure what they did with him. Ultimately though, they had to get to an odd number, which is hard to do. That may tell you that Payne was included but was a 1/1.
