support a school with a population of a thousand or so. I have no kid in middle school so how is my best interest served helping pay for this school? If the 45,000 people who have no vested interest in that school pulled their funding could the parents alone foot the bill?
So the real question is do I get value from that school if I do not currently use it? The answer that some here fail to see is that the schools, police, parks and roadways make my city more attractive and livable. If all the schools and public services shut down in my town what would happen to the value of my property?
My property taxes help keep my city attractive which in turn maintains the value of my property.
