on the talent levels. Currently, I think Walton is limited because he can't/won't shoot from outside. He's one dimensional. However, he's proven to be able to go inside, for the most part, against P5 players. Even against the likes of Kentucky, he was able to drive and score. If he can work on his shot, I think he can be an above-average P5 player.
On the coaching front, I agree that it'd be a mistake to hire "just anybody" but there are a lot of decent candidates out there. Marginal improvement is still improvement. I also agree that it's hard for Kim to continue to recruit without a larger term. One possibility would be to extend him in name only. You could simply limit the "buyout" beyond the term of his original deal, preserving the right to change coaches without it costing you a fortune. I don't, however, think that's going to happen.
